Syntactic-Level Ontology Integration Rules for E-Commerce
نویسنده
چکیده
Electronic marketplaces, or e-commerce portals, bring together many online suppliers and buyers. Each individual participant can potentially use his own format to represent the products in his product catalog, and mapping between them becomes non-trivial. Complicated products require knowledge-intensive descriptions, or ontologies, and catalog integration shifts to integration of product ontologies. The industrial experience analyzed in the paper shows that in some cases the marketplaces require syntactic-level integration of product ontologies, in which the integration rules are created and updated (semi)automatically. Ontology integration tools that satisfy these requirements have not yet been developed, and accordingly we sketch a framework for automated ontology integration that is able to fulfill these requirements.

B2B Integration - Aligning ebXML and Ontology Approaches
In B2B e-commerce, XML provides means to exchange data between applications. It does not guarantee interoperability. On the syntactic level, this requires an agreement on an e-business vocabulary (e.g. xCBL). Even more important, on the semantic level, business partners must share a common view unambiguously constraining the generic document types. In this paper, we present a framework that bri...
متن کاملA Survey of Schema-Based Matching Approaches
Schema and ontology matching is a critical problem in many application domains, such as semantic web, schema/ontology integration, data warehouses, e-commerce, etc. Many different matching solutions have been proposed so far. In this paper we present a new classification of schema-based matching techniques that builds on the top of state of the art in both schema and ontology matching. Some inn...
متن کاملA Nonmonotonic Rule System using Ontologies
The development of the Semantic Web proceeds in layers. Currently the most advanced layer that has reached maturity is the ontology layer, in the form of the DAML+OIL language which corresponds to a rich description logic. The next step will be the the realization of logical rule systems on top of the ontology layer. Computationally simple nonmonotonic rule systems show promise to play an impor...
متن کاملEvaluating Product Ontologies in E-Commerce: A Semiotic Approach
Product ontologies provide consensual definitions of concepts and inter-relationships between them in a product domain of interest. They aim at solving integration problems in product-related information systems such as e-commerce applications. Assessing to which extent they actually meet user requirements remains a critical question for both ontology engineers and ontology adopters. Current re...
متن کاملBuilding Ontology Repositories for E-Commerce Systems
This paper describes a new method to integrate and implement e-commerce systems in distributed computing environments, especially the Internet. In this paper, we propose a core part of ontology repositories for e-commerce systems, illustrate the organisational topology of the repositories, and demonstrate how to use XML standards to build the repositories. After all these repositories are distr...
